Introverted teacher versus unstoppable violinist. She wants to be alone. He wants her heart. Let the games begin…

After the unexpected death of her musician brother, third-grade teacher Adara buries her grief, avoids all music and vows to exist without attachments. Social solitude works perfectly…until she’s forced to share her classroom with the new music mentor, a man who rattles her carefully constructed cage and sparks emotions she prefers to keep chained.

Always up for a challenge, violinist Garret is a master of patience and persistence, and the minute he meets Adara, he knows what he wants. Her sharp humor and haunted eyes inspire him in a way he’s never felt before. He makes it his mission to chip through her shields and breathe her back to life—no matter how hard she resists.

Even as Adara struggles to keep Garret at a distance with each clash of wills, each smile he coaxes, each kiss he steals, her resistance crumbles. But when the past catches up with them both, they will discover that some promises are meant to be broken…and others are worth risking everything for.

Excerpt

Garret’s full, generous mouth was too close to hers, making her traitorous lips tingle. The stubble on his lean jaw called to her fingers, and she fisted her hands to keep them under control. She’d never wanted to touch something so badly. Not something—him. Garret. But giving in would unlace the cocoon she’d kept so carefully constructed since Joey.

Without warning, he tucked her hair behind her ear. His callused fingertips trailed her jaw and her mouth went dry. Gently, he cupped her chin. “You feel nothing now?”

“Nothing.” Her voice surrendered to him first, nothing more than a breathless whisper. He had to feel her thundering heart vibrate through his fingers.

His eyes flashed, dark and daring. She should duck under his arm and run like snarling hell hounds were chasing her, but her willpower snuffed out. As if sensing her incapacity, he pressed his lips beneath her ear. Her uncooperative eyelids fluttered, the next defense to fail. His stubble scraped her cheek, and that simple hint of rough on smooth shot flames into every cold spot. His breath brushed her ear. “Now?”

His low voice nibbled along every nerve. She couldn’t answer. She wanted to slide her fingers over his jaw then tangle them in his too-long hair, to press against him and fit her body into his until all her broken pieces were forged in his heat and remade. She wanted his arms around her, his mouth on hers and nothing between them but skin.

He eased back and held her gaze. “Nothing?”

The overload of sensations, the longing and hiding and defending all blended into an Adara bomb. If she didn’t do something, she’d erupt. With trembling fingers, she caressed his jaw. The sensation was everything she’d hoped for, bristly and rough, unexpectedly intimate.

Garret sucked in a breath and closed his eyes. When his lashes lifted, his eyes gleamed like obsidian fire. Then his mouth was on hers. He pressed his hard, strong body into hers, trapping her fully against the wall.

In a galactic meltdown that threatens spacetime itself, the universe needs superheroes.  On offer:  a Spacelander with a slight attitude, an irritating protégée who talks back and vast alien beings who may span the cosmos but who have quite a problem communicating with other species.

The learning curve might be too steep.

Ryler Mallivan’s comfortable life as an upstanding young freighter captain has just imploded.  Avaraks are storming the training ship he is on and the bullets being fired are not blanks.  Interstellar war has broken out and unless he moves fast they will all be as stone dead as the instructor lying at his feet.

But this is one conflict they can never escape. The cause of the trouble is far closer than they know and will bring Mallivan and his ragbag fledgling crew under ferocious attack from all sides.

They are going to need all their wits about them if they are to stay alive. And they have to, because there is nobody else to save all their worlds from a doomsday weapon which is set to obliterate the entire cosmos.

Just how much can one lone spaceship do?

 Excerpt

 Chapter 1

Sammy was glowering and Mel was looking down at the decking. Neither of them thought I knew how to lead a squad. They were right, but I wasn’t about to tell them so.

Sammy cleared his throat with a sort of huffing sound. “They’ll send someone else, Rye,” he told me, trying to seem helpful and not denigrating, something he could use some practice at.

I gestured with my M596 long barrel, making a huge effort not to sigh. “Just aim at the Avaraks, Sammy. Let’s get the job done.” I didn’t have to say the same to Bull Cunningham. He was in his element, eyes shining, carelessly notching up accurate shots at the enemy. Despite being a Terran Flatlander, he was one of those souls born to be a marine. He hadn’t got there yet, but I was pretty sure it wouldn’t take him too long. If I hadn’t had two weeks seniority on him he would have been leading this team now. He would probably have done it better.

For a moment I considered handing the job over to him, but the small Tyzaran girl clutching at my uniform made me focus. She hadn’t been in our remit, but having found her huddled shaking in a doorway, I knew I had to try to save her. There was no way she should have been here. All the visiting Tyzaran dignitaries had been hastily evacuated twelve hours earlier. She had just leapfrogged to my top priority.

The sounds of inter-vessel torpedoes hammering old Commorancy continued. The ancient hull plating was shivering with transformed kinetic energy, making it hard to concentrate.

I kicked Wolseley’s legs out of the way. No man left behind, I thought fiercely. Yeah. Like that had worked out well. Our intrepid leader wouldn’t be going anywhere anytime soon. He was missing most of his torso. I couldn’t have taken the remaining bits of him with us, even if I had wanted to.

Major Wolseley hadn’t thought much of my insistent suggestion to fall back and regroup. He was old school. Gung-ho and give your all for the ship; what do you think we train you for, and so on. Rewards in heaven, I supposed. I’m a Spacelander too, but I didn’t believe in all that claptrap. He should be proving or disproving it pretty soon, I calculated. He must be hammering at the pearly gates about now. I hoped he found his misplaced stubborn heroism worth it.

Unfortunately his rigid sticking to the rules had now left those of us remaining in combat with little choice. We could die or we could fight. Half the Avarak intruders had taken advantage of the delay to advance from the port side, trapping us in the corridor between the main engine room and the EM core, and we sure as fitz weren’t going to be retreating anywhere now.

As for Captain Tevis … I didn’t think we would be seeing him anytime soon in this corridor. Not that I knew him. I knew of him. He’d been responsible for the death of one of my uncles. His specialty was keeping his own head down and persuading others not to. The captain would have more pressing work somewhere else on the ship. Somewhere more protected, my subconscious snarked. I tried not to think about it. Like it or not, I was now the de facto head of this decimated squad. I had better things to do than wonder where Commorancy’s just-give-me-my-decoration captain had got to.

Mel’s eyes were sidling towards Sammy. She was wondering whether to mutiny or not.

I cocked the firing mechanism and pointed my gun at her. She rolled her eyes, but at least that brought them back in my direction. She pushed the barrel of her own M487 XRS against her shoulder and squinted down the corridor at the invaders. The sound of her firing was just one more boom amongst the juddering metal which screeched its demise. If we didn’t clear this position soon we were lost. Tears were streaking down her cheeks. I wasn’t sure if they were of rage or fright. It didn’t matter. All she had to do was keep firing. If she didn’t I might shoot her myself.

I turned to cover our rear. Poor old Commorancy was groaning like a collapsing whale. This ship wasn’t going to last much longer.

A computer voice suddenly crackled into life over the ship’s loudspeaker system. “Abandon ship. Abandon ship. This is not a drill. Proceed to your nearest exit port and board the shuttles in an orderly fashion.”

Thanks a lot. Would if we could. I guess the announcement was one step better than ‘we are about to abandon ship leaving the rest of you to die in this old bucket’, which is what our esteemed captain really meant.

Mel wavered. My back was jammed up against hers. I could feel her gun go quiet as she processed the information. A bullet hit Sammy, who collapsed on the floor.

I snarled backwards at her. “Keep firing, damn it! Don’t you even think about taking your finger off that trigger!”

I felt, rather than heard, the gasp of outrage, but my words were effective. She started to return fire again. I squashed the Tyzaran girl between me and Bull. She was half our size. At least we could act as human shields for her. She was cringing at the sounds and the flashes of gunfire, her crest sticking out rigidly from her scalp in panic.

I tugged at Sammy’s shoulder lapels, dragging and pushing him slightly to one side, where a small doorway gave him a little better cover. I couldn’t spare the time to look at him. I just kept returning their fire. The shuttles in the stern cargo hold might as well have been ten kilometers away. We were not going to get there in time. I was pretty sure our part in this newly born war was just about over. I was pretty sure our part in life was just about over.

DA VINCI'S SECRET PALES. Michelangelo concealed an explosive truth in his famous Creation of Adam fresco in the Sistine Chapel. Eve did not cause the fall of man. She carried a far more devastating secret for millennia—one that will change the world forever.

PROMO: Protect the Valley

photo Book 2 new cover 1_zpsf7ptkj87.png
Mountain Valley, Book 2
Romance Suspense
Date Published: Oct. 27th, 2019

 photo add-to-goodreads-button_zpsc7b3c634.png

Sheriff Beckett Remington is protective of his valley. A psychopathic doctor is tormenting the community in the middle of his election, and Beck's patience is stretched thin. When all evidence points to Beck's new girlfriend his future plans are on the chopping block. Will he be able to keep his calm, cool, and collected demeanor?

Eve Crawford has one last goal to achieve before she'll feel complete. She’s already achieved her nursing degrees, landed the job of her dreams in the town she grew up in, and bought the home she always wanted. The last thing on her list is to find a good man, one she can spend the rest of her life with. Sheriff Becket Remington fits the bill so perfectly, she just can't trust it. When a doctor from her past shows up in town, fear sends her straight in the arms of the big bad sheriff. Will he be able to uncover the truth and find the doctor in time?

Excerpt

In the exam room, Eve helps me undress the little guy and together we play a game while the other scans a body part looking for any kind of injury. When the boy is undressed except for his undershorts, I hear Eve pull in a breath of shock. “What is it?” I ask with concern as I observe her examining the marker scribbles on Will’s body. “These are not normal.” Eve says with worry clouding her uneasy expression. I chuckle, “No they are not normal. Little boys are suppose to draw on paper not their bodies.”

Eve look stricken with disgust at my explanation. “You’re wrong, someone put the marks on him for a purpose. They are marks a surgeon puts on a patient before surgery, not marks from a little boy who got a hold of a marker.” She looks puzzled as she runs a hand over the boys curly blonde locks. “I can’t be sure what kind of surgery but the doctor should be able to tell you more.” She says while holding the boy and doing her best to help snap photos of the markings.

My mind is reeling from her clarification and I wonder what this means and how it is linked to his mother’s death. I can’t stop thinking suicide doesn’t seem like something Nora would do, she loved this little boy. There is no way I will believe she up and committed suicide leaving Will an orphan. There has got to be more to the story and I am eager for Lindsey and her team to understand it.

Bearded, sluggish, treacherous, delightfully aromatic-- these are but a few of the adjectives that employers, friends, fans, and law enforcement have used when struggling to describe Houston-based novelist James B. Caruthers. He is a dad, a public-interest attorney, and proud author of his frankly dangerous debut novel Snardler.

James has dreamed of being a writer since the second grade. Now that this has been accomplished, he’s pretty darn full of himself. Excerpt

What I needed was a straight line right to the top. One way to gain almost instant access to the highest levels of Peek production came to me right away, but it was one that I was loathe to employ, for it would involve aligning myself – and thus the Crystal Throne – with some of the most reviled beings in the galaxy. I spent the rest of that evening trying to come up with any other way to break into the racket. I even considered taking a stealthed flyer and buzzing every island while Sam sniffed for a big stash, but eventually decided that would probably be a waste of time.
By morning I had come to the conclusion that, as much as I didn’t want to, I was going to have to pose as a Revenant.
There are probably people on the far side of the galaxy who have never heard of our Ghouls. To them I say ignorance truly is bliss. The rest of us hold them both in morbid revulsion and mortal fear. This is because they are that quasi-religious cult that believes in gaining immortality through replacing worn-out or inferior body parts with ones taken from living people. Rumored to be spread throughout our own Perseus galactic arm, they’re most active in and around the metals-rich Birmingham globular cluster that is home to my Empire and our nearest neighbors. Culture-grown organs are anathema to them, as are synthetics of any sort. They hold that a person’s life force only grows in natural bodies, and by transplanting organs and body parts they can harvest that mysterious energy and make use of it themselves.
This would be bad enough even if it were all there was to them, but in reality they are much worse, for they claim that this vitae weakens over time, so they are always searching for new ‘donors’. And they are very lax in seeking consent from their suppliers, if you know what I mean.
Anyone who has any dealings with them – and there are a surprising number – can become indebted to them very easily. Merely telling one ‘thank you’ implies that you acknowledge their claim upon you, in their minds. Likewise, they’re quick to latch onto any other minor social convention and twist it into presumed indebtedness. And once they consider someone in their debt, that person has only to wait until the time comes that their payment is due. On that day, only flesh will suffice.
So why, you may ask, do so many people choose to deal with them instead of doing the sensible thing and running away as fast and as far as possible? Well, not everyone in this galaxy is as sensible as that. Some are able to convince themselves that they can partake of the riches that associating with the Revenants can bring them without eventually falling prey to those same masters. For the Ghouls, you see, are the cluster’s acknowledged masters of the interstellar drug trade. They are the ones who can move vast quantities of illegal substances from star to star with impunity, for there are very few who would risk angering them by searching their ships.
Anywhere a Revenant goes he is treated with the utmost courtesy and respect, for again, no one wants to curry their disfavor. And woe upon anyone who tries to overpower one, because that is a sure way to volunteer to donate all of one’s flesh to the Order of the Eternals. They are neither forgiving or easy to defeat. A lot of people swear there’s something truly magical about them, for each individual is protected by a mystical, supposedly vitae-derived shield that, while undetectable by any sensor, protects them from any attack, whether physical or energy based. How this is accomplished is a secret closely guarded by them, of course.
It is by this that they are known, for a Revenant may have any physical appearance. Some are indistinguishable from ordinary humans, while others revel in the grotesqueness of their patchwork nature, but all project an aura of supreme confidence and invulnerability.
Of course, there are some few people in the galaxy who may think to impersonate one for some reason or another; perhaps to intimidate others or to gain the advantage in business dealings. These imposters, however, are few and far between, for two reasons. One is that true Revenants do not hesitate to demonstrate their immunity to weapons of any sort, and the other is that, if a fake lives long enough, the real Revenants will find him and claim his body parts for themselves.
So now you can hopefully understand why I tried to come up with any other way to reach the peak of the Peek pyramid without having to go through the Revenants. I, alone among the trillions of people in the galaxy, can successfully impersonate one without risk of either death or dismemberment, for they are aware of Sam’s existence. Not only that, they know that they can do nothing to me without bringing the wrath of the Emperor himself down upon their whole Order.
To do so, however, I would have to offer the true Revenants a concession for not disowning me, and it is that which I was so hesitant to do. With my flesh denied to them, what else might they claim in payment?

My name is Monika Moss-Gransberry.  I started a company over 30 years ago called MKM Management Consulting. My intention was to change the world, one leader, one organization and one community at a time.  I have helped thousands of people around the world to transform their lives, their organizations and their communities. And I owe all of my personal and professional successes to life mapping.  On my life long journey to wholeness, I have used many methods to get there none more important than Life Mapping. I have used Life Mapping to cultivate and act on my purpose and spiritual gifts.  It led me to write the book, Life Mapping: A Journey of Self Discovery and Path Finding.

Life Mapping is a life enhancing system that leads you to start living the life you always dreamed of but never thought possible. I am living my dream and I am happy and I am at peace. And everyday, I get to help others do the same.  But, it wasn’t long ago that I was a struggling single mom, working night and day to make ends meet and challenged by the trauma’s I’d experienced in my life.  As I worked through my personal healing and embraced my purpose using the practice of Life Mapping and the tools to support me, I found myself prospering with a growing business, a beautiful family, having leisure time, being able to travel, and living and working with the love of my life.  I know that Life Mapping and its underlying spiritual practices work.  I am a living example of what you can create for yourself with your own Life Map.

I don’t want it to take you 20 or 30 years to evolve and prosper.  I have created Life Mapping so you can speed up your manifestation process and begin living your ideal lifestyle right now with each decision you make.  And as you create a life that you love living and become your best self, together we can change the world to one that is more loving and humane for all of us.

I am clear that the world is going through a transformation. It is messy and difficult. Things are pretty bad in many places and for millions of people.  We are living in a world of dualities and distractions. Staying focused and working through the traumas, challenges, and obstacles to our vision is even more important if we are going to make a world that is more humane and more suited for us all.  Life Mapping can support you maintaining your focus, keeping moving as the last vestiges of the old regimes wreak havoc on our world in a futile attempt to stay in power.  Life Mapping can help you add your positive energy to that of others by transforming your thinking, your actions and your being. And soon the bright light of our spirits and the love we share in our daily interactions with ourselves and others will overwhelmingly consume the darkness and make our world a place where all people are loved, cared for and the planet is sustained. And for each of us to be a part of the solution, we must do our inner work and transform our own lives. Take the first step and join me in using Life Mapping to transform yourself and create a life you will love living.
