Excerpt
Introduction

Your life is about to change. Embedded within this book are ideas and lessons that have been passed down from one generation to the next for centuries. My only goal behind writing this book is to take the principles I have acquired, couple them with the experience and lessons I have learned in over 20 years of working in a variety of leadership positions, and merely pay it forward.

These leadership principles have been tested over time and have proven to be the necessary ingredients to create success. If you choose to apply them in your life, you will achieve more peace and prosperity than you ever thought possible. Your results will be contingent on the effort you put into applying these lessons.

Success comes in many colors, but make no mistake, it all comes from behind the same door. The problem for you and millions of others like you is that the door is currently locked. The door requires a key to unlock everything you want in life. Not any key will do. The key must be the right size and shape, and it must be turned in the proper sequence to unlock the door of success. Along with the key is a willingness to open your mind to the belief that if you want something bad enough and are willing to follow in the footsteps of others who have traveled this path and achieved similar results, you can have it.

I know because I have the key, and I have unlocked the door. I am no different than you. The son of a public-school educator with modest means, I was not born with a silver spoon in my mouth. I began my climb over 20 years ago and have successfully reached the summit of my profession. My goal is to help you achieve the summit too.

I have studied leadership throughout my life and have read hundreds of books, allowing me to become an authority on the topic. Most of the leadership principles in this book are not mine. This book is full of quotes and leadership principles from authors who have been influential in my life. The principles embedded within this book have come from those who walked this trail before me and have been kind enough to pay it forward so a small-town Oklahoma kid from humble beginnings could achieve his dreams. I am grateful to those who came before me. My goal is to gather all the leadership principles I have acquired into one book and simplify the complexity of the leadership gauntlet. I want to encourage you to pay close attention to the sequence of the leadership principles. Learning can be linear, and many of the concepts and methods build on one another.

Before we begin our journey together, I want you to know one thing. I believe in you. When you practice these principles in a disciplined fashion, you will begin to see your life change in a positive direction. Waiting at the completion of this book is the answer you desire. The blueprint of success in your life is right behind this door. Turn the page and unlock your future.
