Publisher: Rowan Prose Publishing

When former best friends Sam and Rebecca reunite at their college reunion, they decide to repair their fractured relationship and start over.

But then Sam finds out Rebecca is dating Adam, a man she’d had an intense relationship with two years ago. She vows to keep it a secret, lest it sever their newly mended bond.

Sam soon realizes she can’t outrun her and Rebecca’s imperfect past, nor can she ignore her and Adam’s desire for one another.

As Sam struggles between loyalty and lust, she realizes that vengeance can make monsters out of all of us.

Excerpt

Prologue

Sam stared at the blood gleaming on the hardwood floor in front of her. Someone was screaming beside her, but she couldn’t focus on anything other than the blood’s impossibly bright color. It was garnet-colored and aromatic–like a splash of copper-scented wine. Its beauty and grotesqueness transfixed her, and her eyes blinked slowly and heavily as she gazed at it. Concrete-heavy shock packed her muscles and froze her in place.

Her mouth moved, but the words stuck in her throat as she stared at the corpse’s crimson neck. A knife stuck out of it, and blood smeared the black handle. Sam blinked long and slow. Adrenaline began coursing through her once again, and her muscles loosened, but shock held her mind in its sharp claws.

Her eyes finally flicked to the fallen gun on the hardwood floor. Tears gleamed in her eyes. She knew she was the one who had caused this mess. She knew she had severed her relationships and created the target now on her back.

But vengeance was in control of her body now.

Her gaze scanned the blood-spattered murderer in front of her. Sam’s heart thundered as reality slammed through her like buckshot.

This person had killed someone Sam loved.

Sam grabbed the gun and pointed it at the wide-eyed assailant.

Let justice be served.

Blog Tour: Turtle Lake

Crime Thriller / Suspense

Date Published: 09-07-2026

Publisher: Mission Point Press

Turtle Lake is a gripping tale of revenge, survival, and the intricate interplay between human nature and the natural world. The story follows Jim Peters, the comptroller at Ramsey Motors, who uncovers a corrupt scheme by the company and its insurer, U.S. Underwriters, to defraud employees of their retirement and insurance benefits before moving operations overseas. Infuriated, he devises an elaborate extortion plan to expose their corruption and protect the employees through a spectacular plot that ends up achieving national headlines. To accomplish his plan, Peters uses simple, everyday methods and lessons learned from alpha predators in the natural world.

Excerpt

A car was coming down the street of a residential St. Louis suburb. Dr. Wayne Mallon was driving home from his clinic this Friday at 6:45 p.m., as he did every Friday. The doctor turned into his driveway. He had no reason to notice the nondescript gray van that was parked among other cars along the street.

His car came to a halt just after it passed the sidewalk, as expected. Dr. Mallon was a fastidious man of habit, particular about his car and exactly where it should be parked in his driveway. Because of this, it was easy for Peters to position the powerful tripod-mounted lens in the back of his van to focus on exactly where Mallon would soon be standing.

Dr. Mallon placed the gear shift in park and removed the keys. His movements were seen through the high-powered lens of a movie camera, recording over Peters’ shoulder. Peters, however, was looking through the lens of a high-powered rifle, complete with a silencer.

The doctor slammed the door shut and moved a step forward, turning to greet his family waiting for him on the porch. At that moment the crosshairs were centered right in the middle of his back.

The shot went off when he took the second step. A rubber slug went sailing down the street, heading right for the doctor. The power of it hitting his back lifted him onto the hood of the car and sent him sliding down to the ground. His family jumped from their chairs and ran to help him. The gray van quietly left the area.

PROMO: The Safe Room

Thriller

Date Published: 09-10-2026

When I was fifteen years old, I made a mistake. I trusted the warm smile of a stranger called Peter Harlow, and accepted a ride home in his car.

It would be the last moment of my life I’d ever feel safe again.

The trauma of what happened that night will never leave me—and it was only the beginning. For the last nineteen years, I’ve been trapped in a nightmare of blocked numbers, violated restraining orders, and the compulsion to scan every face in every crowd, waiting for the day when his will be among them.

But I've also spent the time preparing. My home has become a fortress, with reinforced doors, perimeter cameras, and a safe room in the cellar. I've even taught my seven-year-old daughter how to call for help. When I finally have to face Peter Harlow again, I’ll be ready.

Or so I thought.

Because on the night of a furious snowstorm, a terrified stranger arrives at my gate. Emily is barefoot, bruised, and desperate for help—claiming her husband just tried to kill her.

To let her in from the storm would mean breaking every rule I've made to protect myself and my daughter—but could I live with myself if I didn’t?

But what follows is everything I've lived in fear of for all these years. First, the lights go out. Then, the internet dies. Next, the phone line goes dead—and finally, I find myself trapped inside my own safe room, watching through a camera feed as the man who stole my life for two decades walks the halls of my home, playing happy families with my little girl.

I built this fortress to keep him out. Now, it’s the only thing keeping me from protecting my child.

The Safe Room is a heart-stopping psychological thriller by bestselling author Sarah A. Denzil, the "mistress of twists." Essential reading for fans of Alice Feeney, Freida McFadden, and Caroline Kepnes.

Excerpt

Keenan Jr., Taylor, and Kennedy step inside when the front door swings open. Lillian wipes her hands on her apron and walks out of the kitchen to greet them in the foyer.

Keenan Jr. wraps his arms around her. “Hi, Mama. Dinner smells amazing.”

Lillian hugs him back tightly, her smile bright and genuine. “Hey, baby. Thank you. I’m making all your favorites.” She squeezes him tighter. “I’m so glad y’all are here.”

“Me too, Ma.” He glances around. “Where is Dad?”

Her smile disappears, and she tightens her lips before she responds. “He’s upstairs getting dressed.” She sounds so upset.

Taylor steps forward next, offering a polite hug. “Hi, Mrs. Waters. The table looks lovely.”

“Aww, thank you, sweetheart.”

As Keenan Jr. tends to Kennedy, Taylor lowers her voice. “Are you okay? Last night, before I left—”

“Shh.” Lillian cuts her off quickly, looking toward her son. “Not now.”

“But I was really worried about you.”

Lillian doesn’t respond. Instead, she turns her attention to Kennedy, lighting up. “Kennedy, is that you? Grandma has missed you so, so much.”

The little girl runs into her arms, hugging her neck. “I missed you, too, Grandma! I love you.”

“Grandma loves you, too, baby.” Lillian kisses her cheek, then puts her down and holds out her hand. “Come with me. Grandma’s gonna put you to work, pretty girl.”

In the kitchen, Lillian ties a little pink apron around Kennedy that says Cooking with Grandma. The three generations—Lillian, Taylor, and Kennedy—work together with big smiles, preparing the second batch of candied yams.

Naomi enters the house next, happy to see Keenan Jr. sitting at the dining room table. She grins. “I know that’s not my handsome big brother sitting there.”

Keenan Jr. gets up to greet her with a hug. “What’s up, baby sister. I missed you.”

“I missed you, too!”

Naomi joins the women in the kitchen, hugging everyone before pitching in.

Saint and Porsha arrive hand in hand, looking picture-perfect in matching shades of blue. Saint’s voice rings out from the front door. “Hey, wassup, y’all.”

Hearing him, everyone streams into the foyer, lighting up with joy.

Lillian pulls him into a tight hug. “Is that my other baby? Come here, Saint, and hug your mama!”

Saint grins. “Hey, Ma. I could smell dinner from the driveway, and it smelled so good.”

“Thank you, baby.”

The family greets Porsha warmly, and their affection is genuine. Saint’s deception about this pregnant girl he’s claiming as his own is working. No one seems to suspect a thing.

Naomi teases him as they hug. “Yasss, my partner in crime is finally here. Hey, brother.”

“Hell yeah, I’m in the house!” Saint laughs, then eyes her playfully. “Damn, Naomi, you’re looking good tonight.”

Naomi smiles. “You look good too, little brother.”

Keenan Jr. joins the banter, throwing an arm around Saint. “He better look good. He’s always working; that’s why we can never reach him. And don’t forget, Saint, I’ll see you next week to work on your grant.”

“Cool, big bro. I’ll be there.”

The siblings joke and laugh with each other as Kennedy climbs into Saint’s lap, giggling. Lillian watches from the dining room doorway, her heart full—until she hears Keenan Sr. coming down the stairs. Her cheerful smile fades.

Keenan Sr. enters the dining room, greeting the family with his booming voice. “Now the party can start. You’re all here. I’m so glad to see each of you.”

The family all hugs him, except Lillian, who remains in the doorway. She silently observes as he takes his place at the table. When the oven timer dings, she excuses herself. “I’ll be right back. The bread is ready.”

“I’ll help you,” Taylor says, following her into the kitchen.

Keenan Sr. addresses the table, his tone cheerful. “It’s wonderful to have everyone here tonight to celebrate with Lillian and me.”

When Lillian returns with cornbread and rolls, Keenan Sr. takes her hand tenderly. “It was thirty-five years yesterday since we said our vows, and we couldn’t be happier to share this joyous milestone with the people we love most. Right, Lillian?”

Before she can respond, the doorbell rings. Keenan Jr. and Saint start to rise, but Lillian waves them off. “No, no, boys. Sit. Y’all start your dinner. I got the door.”

She returns moments later with a manila envelope in hand. Standing beside Keenan Sr., she addresses the table. Her heart pounds in her chest, but her face remains calm and unreadable.

“Keenan was right earlier. We are so glad all of you are here tonight to share our thirty-fifth wedding anniversary with us.”

Her eyes drop to her husband, her smile vanishing. “We’ve had good times, Keenan. Bad times, too. But we made it… until now.”

Porsha excuses herself quickly, taking Kennedy with her to the restroom.

Lillian then waits for the room to quiet before continuing. “You are a liar and a cheat, Keenan. You sit here acting like everything is perfect, but you didn’t bother to tell them that you spent our actual anniversary with that whore in Chestnut Hill!”

Keenan Sr. stiffens. “Lillian, would you sit down? This isn’t the time.”

Her voice rises. “When is the time, Keenan? Last night, you were with her. You came home this morning smelling like pussy and went into court that way! You even walked into this house reeking of—”

Keenan Jr. tries to intervene. “Mama, please—”

“Don’t you ‘Mama’ me! Your daddy came home smelling like pussy and didn’t even speak to me!”

Naomi interjects, “And y’all say I’m drama.”

Lillian cuts her off. “This ain’t about you, Naomi, so stay out of it!”

Keenan Sr. glares at her. “You are impossible, Lillian. A goddamn madwoman.”

Unfazed at how mad he is, Lillian slams the envelope onto the table. “That’s a divorce decree. My attorney worked on it all month. Now, you’re done here, Keenan.”

The room falls silent. Keenan Sr. looks around, his face twisted with anger and disbelief as Lillian’s voice cuts through the tension. “Get up, go upstairs, pack your things, and get out of my damn house! For good.”

The family stares around the table at each other, dumbfounded, as Lillian finishes. “Go, Keenan. Now!”

PROMO: WhiteGrass

A CliFi Technothriller

Date Published: October 24, 2025

Publisher: Manhattan Book Group

In 2048, the planet is running out of time.

Superstorms flatten cities. Coastlines collapse. Climate change is no longer theoretical—it is lethal. When a near-apocalyptic storm nearly kills their family, teenage siblings Jimmy and Lizzie Marshall urge their brilliant but reluctant father, nanoscientist Greg Marshall, to deploy a technology before he’s brave enough to release it.

WhiteGrass—a self-replicating nanotechnology capable of removing carbon from the atmosphere is the parent technology. It saves golf courses and ski resorts and the towns they serve. Icarus could reverse climate change on a global scale. It could also reshape global power forever.

To protect the technology, Greg and his wife Ginny, an elite AI expert, reprogram the world’s most advanced humanoid android, Valada. Designed as property—an object without rights—Valada begins to evolve, developing emotional awareness, moral judgment, and something disturbingly close to humanity.

As governments unravel and climate disasters accelerate, a covert alliance of oligarchs, corporations, and political power brokers moves to seize WhiteGrass/Icarus for themselves. Led by the President of the United States, the syndicate will stop at nothing—surveillance, blackmail, assassination—to control the technology that could save the world or enslave it.

They deploy their own deadly android.

Now the Marshalls are trapped in a global sci-fi political conspiracy, hunted by forces with unlimited resources, as skyscrapers fall, cities burn, and artificial intelligence begins to ask questions no human is prepared to answer.

“We call it ‘Climate Change,’” Lizzie interrupted, “because it’s not just the heat.”
“It’s everything—the rains, the droughts, the storms, the sea level… even the acidification.” It could change everything.

At its core, WhiteGrass is a gripping near-future climate change thriller about family survival, technological power, and the terrifying moment when artificial intelligence stops serving humanity—and starts judging it.

Blending nanotechnology science fiction, AI humanoid emotional evolution, and hard-science realism, WhiteGrass delivers relentless pacing, cinematic stakes, and deeply human emotion. It is a story about parents willing to risk everything to protect their children—and a world forced to confront whether it deserves saving at all.

Perfect for fans of near-future disaster thrillers, technothrillers with political intrigue, and science fiction where artificial intelligence becomes human, WhiteGrass is a powerful warning—and an unforgettable ride.

About the Author

Richard H. Smith, MSc.
Author | Futurist | Nanotechnology & Policy Expert | Climate Technothriller Writer

Richard H. Smith, MSc., is a futurist, technologist, and climate policy expert whose career has placed him at the intersection of nanotechnology, artificial intelligence, healthcare innovation, and climate change foresight for more than three decades. Drawing on real-world experience working alongside scientists, engineers, Fortune 50 companies, and Ohgovernment agencies, Smith writes hard science fiction grounded in plausible futures, where technology collides with political power, ethics, and human survival.

Smith’s professional background spans leadership roles in nanotechnology R&D, AI-based medical diagnostics, strategic technology forecasting, and science policy, including serving as research director at a major university medical center and founding multiple technology ventures. He has advised U.S. and international governments on emerging technologies and was formally trained on climate change science by Al Gore, giving him a rare combination of technical depth and policy insight.

Raised in Virginia, Smith built his career while raising a family—an experience that deeply informs the emotional core of his fiction. Today, he lives in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, a coastal community already facing the realities of sea-level rise. He teaches courses on climate change and coastal vulnerability, witnessing firsthand how future scenarios are rapidly becoming present-day realities.

WhiteGrass is Smith’s first full-length novel and the culmination of a lifetime spent studying how advanced technologies shape—and endanger—civilization. The novel explores nanotechnology, climate collapse, political conspiracy, and artificial intelligence becoming human, all through the lens of family survival in a destabilized near-future world. A prequel, The Iliad Virus, is available now, with the sequel Icarus Rising currently in development.

Smith writes with one driving purpose: to expose uncomfortable truths about climate change, technological power, and political control—while telling a story compelling enough to feel like a blockbuster movie unfolding on the page.

Blog Tour: Storms of Crick Road Bridge

Crime Thriller

Date Published: April 8, 2026

Publisher: MindStir Media

Eden Valley is a quiet town in northwestern Pennsylvania still healing from a dark chapter in its history. Two years ago, the community was shaken by a kidnapping and a series of murders. Tom Stallings, the celebrated town hero, solved the crimes and identified the evil demon responsible. In an effort to revitalize the town, Tom's son, Josh, has purchased the town's orchard, naming it The Stallings Orchard at Crick Road Bridge.

However, Tom is soon informed by the local sheriff that he and his family are the targets of a threatening letter, mysteriously signed "The Avenger." The unknown author accuses Tom and Josh of being land-grabbers with blood on their hands and vows to seek revenge.

Against this tense backdrop, three individuals-each driven by their own pain and misguided sense of justice-embark on separate journeys of revenge. While the first merely seeks to resolve personal grievances and jealousy through minor acts of vandalism, the other two harbor far more sinister intentions, representing both physical and metaphorical storms on a path of chaos and destruction.

Excerpt

Summer was in full swing, and the good people of Eden Valley spent lazy days basking in the warm sunshine and delighting in their clover-covered hillsides. Fathers toiled in the fields while mothers hung the family clothes outside to dry, and children ran to catch iridescent dragonflies that darted across the tall grasses. They lived a life completely detached and unaware that far away, time and events were beginning to form two impending and threatening storms. By day, the hot winds from the west and south would soon be blowing across the dry plains and over the forest-covered mountains, and by night, enshrouded in darkness, they would continue to become more and more forceful as they moved forward on a deadly path of death and destruction toward their intended destination and unsuspecting victims. These were storms that had been in the making for decades, and like all life-changing storms, they would be assigned individual names.

From Chapter 11 of Storms of Crick Road Bridge
