WHO COULD SURVIVE IN A WORLD 50,000 YEARS AGO?

Ominous Odyssey is a thriller and a love story. It takes place four years after teenager Amos McCabe escaped from kidnappers. Now, with a degree in archeology and anthropology, he gets an invitation to work at a dig site in Italy south of Rome. Archeologists discovered the bones of nine Neanderthals. The young man can’t wait to learn the secrets of these prehistoric people.

The lead archeologist informs Amos there are tunnels they have not yet explored. His curiosity gets the better of him. The adventurer brings his headlamp and investigates before anyone arrives for work. When the young man reaches the end of the tunnel, something terrifying happens.

He discovers he’s been transported to an alternate universe of 50,000 years ago. The explorer soon realizes there’s no way to escape. What will become of McCabe? Has his exuberance gotten the better of him? Join Amos for an adventure of a lifetime, in a new world of wonder.

Quotes from the Book

“Amos quickly discovered there was no sign of the civilization he had just left behind. But as he thought about it, time seemed to have taken a vacation along with his concept of reality. Nothing made sense.”

“Amos soon viewed a herd of ancient Aurochs, oxen-like creatures, in a valley below. Suddenly, before one of the beasts could escape, a ferocious predator leaped on top and sunk its razor-sharp teeth into the victim’s neck. The animal stumbled and fell violently to the ground.”

“The humans treated the three kidnapped Neanderthals poorly as they marched them on the route to their village. Occasionally, the men poked them with their walking sticks and spears. But they didn’t want to cause serious injury since they’d be slaves for the humans’ projects.”

(In another scene)

“At the humans’ village, it was a night to celebrate their earth goddess. They would honor her with a sacrifice. The leaders selected a young Neanderthal maiden to be roasted.”

(In another part of the book)

“After rescuing the Neanderthal girl, Amos screamed at his companions, motioning for them to flee. A ferocious fire accompanied the volcanic lava that flowed down the hill toward the human habitat, soon engulfing it in flames.”

(During one of their hunts)

“As the Neanderthals neared the slain animal, the elder jumped toward its chest and began cutting through the tough hide. Eventually, he broke through the bony cavity and cut out its heart. The family roared as the hunter held it up, still beating, blood dripping down his arm. Then he chomped, ripping off a healthy piece with his forceful teeth.”

(Painful screeches awakened the family early one morning)

“Creeping up the slope, the Neanderthals quickly witnessed the source of the horrible sounds. Rays of sunshine silhouetted a massive cave lion. It had set off the tripwire and was instantly gutted. Blood appeared to soak the spears that had pierced the lethal predator.”

“The next day, the group continued carving out the lion meat and cleaning its hide. The lead hunter pulled out huge teeth and claws he wanted to add to his necklace. After he cleaned them, the woman helped thread the new decorations.”

(Before Amos led his friends on an expedition)

“After emotional hugs all around, each person expressed their love for one another. With tears streaming from her eyes, the young Neanderthal woman held Amos so tight, he didn’t think she’d ever let him go.”
