“Amos soon viewed a herd of ancient Aurochs, oxen-like creatures, in a valley below. Suddenly, before one of the beasts could escape, a ferocious predator leaped on top and sunk its razor-sharp teeth into the victim’s neck. The animal stumbled and fell violently to the ground.”

“As the Neanderthals neared the slain animal, the elder jumped toward its chest and began cutting through the tough hide. Eventually, he broke through the bony cavity and cut out its heart. The family roared as the hunter held it up, still beating, blood dripping down his arm. Then he chomped, ripping off a healthy piece with his forceful teeth.”
(Painful screeches awakened the family early one morning)
“Creeping up the slope, the Neanderthals quickly witnessed the source of the horrible sounds. Rays of sunshine silhouetted a massive cave lion. It had set off the tripwire and was instantly gutted. Blood appeared to soak the spears that had pierced the lethal predator.”
“The next day, the group continued carving out the lion meat and cleaning its hide. The lead hunter pulled out huge teeth and claws he wanted to add to his necklace. After he cleaned them, the woman helped thread the new decorations.”

About the Author
J.T. Kelly gained a love for the European continent while living in Rome, Italy, for a year and traveling extensively. These incredible experiences provided indelible memories. J.T. combined them with his fond recollections of summers spent on Lake Maxinkuckee in northern Indiana. Coincidentally, it's a place where other authors such as Kurt Vonnegut also enjoyed the area's charms. Readers find that most of Kelly's fictional novels begin at the lake where crimes occur.
