Sister Molly Cleary vs. The Catholic Church

Women's Historical Fiction

A Special Message about Sister Molly Cleary

Sister Molly Cleary’s fearless journey to seek reproductive justice for women is a powerful testament to the ongoing struggle for women’s rights. In an era when Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion are under threat, women risk losing significant social and personal freedoms and opportunities. States are stripping away reproductive rights and issues uniquely important to women, including childcare subsidies, living wages, equal opportunity and affirmative action protections, healthcare access, and voting rights are all facing political assault. Fighting back is not optional – it is critical

Standing on the shoulders of women of previous eras who rose up to these challenges, Molly Cleary serves as a beacon of hope and resilience. Her story is a call to action for all women to step up, fight for justice and claim their power. These difficult, life-saving battles require unwavering commitment, dogged determination and fearless struggle, and won’t be fought for us – we have to fight, and win, them ourselves.

Get your copy of “OUTRAGE” now and be inspired by Sister Molly Cleary’s unwavering courage and determination to change the world.

EXCERPT

DEDICATION

The battle for women’s reproductive rights, suffered a major blow in June 2022, when the United States Supreme Court reversed Roe v. Wade, which, for fifty years, had constitutionally guaranteed a woman’s right to an abortion. For the first time in history, the Supreme Court had taken rights away – from women. This book is dedicated to the hundreds of thousands of selfless foot soldiers who, for over a century, have been fighting battle after battle for women’s legal, political, and personal rights in the longest war in American history.

To those who oppose us: Be assured that women will win this war, no matter how long it takes and no matter who we must take on to do it.

PROMO: Why We Fall

Why Pain and Suffering Are Our Greatest Teachers

Self-Help

Date Published: August 26, 2024

Publisher: Mindstir Media

Have you ever questioned the importance behind the pain, suffering, and desperation we feel in life? Often times, it's easy for us to lose ourselves in the moment and not see the big picture of things. Yes, pain is uncomfortable, suffering is horrible, and desperation makes us feel like we're losing ourselves before we've had the opportunity to find ourselves. Often times, these emotions have so much they can teach us, yet we avoid them because we don't want to experience any kind of suffering in our lives.

In Why We Fall, I take you through a journey to uncover the truth behind the importance of these emotions in our lives. I walk you through the importance of learning to understand them and how to find the best way to cope with them. It's not an easy journey, but once you grasp the concepts and ideas that we'll discuss in the pages of this book, you'll find that living a fulfilling life and one that you feel satisfied with, has never been easier.

About the Author

It’s not easy. Before we move on, remember this. It’s like going against your own nature. You’re programmed to behave in a certain way. Your genetic code tells you that it’s ok to be the victim and to believe that everything that happens to you happens because there is a certain type of secret conspiracy working against you. We enjoy and crave being the victim. It’s comfortable and we like it. Easy things are what the mind naturally cherishes the most. Well, we’re going against this. We’re going to challenge ourselves to stop feeling sorry for ourselves and instead begin to think in a “problem-solving” mentality.

A true warrior has their values so aligned with God that no matter what happens they know that everything is happening according to God’s plan. There’s no need to feel scared or uncertain because they know that God is testing them and making sure that they’re following the right path. A true warrior knows that they’re going to be tough times and that they need to find ways to solve them because only then will they be able to say that they got stronger. Only then can they actually find a sign of improvement. Only then can they feel like they’re making progress and moving on. Even when they fall, they fall forward. Falling back is not an option for them, because they know that that’s letting the victim’s mentality kick in, and they don’t do that anymore.

Blog Tour: The Apple of Erin's Eye

Contemporary Romance (Clean)

Date Published: 10-12-2024

Erin has planned her life down to alphabetizing her spice cabinet, so when she is stood up on the wedding day she's dreamed of since she was a little girl, her ordered life spirals out of control. When her best friend, and maybe something more, Aaron, challenges her to step outside of her small-town life and explore the world, Erin makes a monumental decision that will take her from teaching middle schoolers in rural Ohio to her dream job as a governess in New York City. Determined to start fresh, to eat meat again, and to ditch her planner, Erin embraces her novel life, but teaching loveable Jessica isn't the only new facet. Her employer, millionaire Daniel Goldstein, is as closed off as the books lining the shelves in his penthouse library where Erin and he spend their evenings sharing their love of books, wine, and perhaps each other. But as Erin opens her heart to new possibilities and loving again, she can't ignore the growing mystery that Daniel is hiding something…or someone.

In this small-town, big-city contemporary romance, Erin learns that no matter where she goes, she takes herself with her. Does that mean finally finding love in the Big Apple, or was it waiting for her in her hometown all along?

Excerpt

Erin scowled at her reflection in the courthouse bathroom mirror. She ran her fingers through her dark brown hair, untangling an imaginary knot. The knots in her stomach remained.

She moved close enough to almost kiss the mirror, a gesture she should’ve been doing with Brian.

Does my eyeliner look even? She shifted her eyes for the third time in as many minutes, swearing the left side was thicker than the right. She sighed.

“Darn mascara,” she muttered, dabbing at the small black smudges under her eyes. “At least it’s not from crying. Stupid humidity.” She frowned at the premature crow’s feet competing for attention.

She stepped out of the bathroom, blamed her overactive bladder for the trip to the toilet, and glanced around the lobby.

Where is he? She pulled her phone out of her purse to check the time for the fifth time in ten minutes.

No sign of Brian. She moved to the front doors and looked outside, hoping his beat-up, muddy Wrangler would be flying into the parking lot.

She huffed and dropped onto the bench near the doors, then smoothed down the front of her off-white maxi dress and set the bouquet of daisies next to her. She wouldn’t be the girl who texted or called, demanding to know why her fiancé wasn’t there. Brian hated that. Nor would she act the part of the hopeless damsel in distress whose prince needed to rescue her.

Still, Erin’s mind drifted to her dreams. Dreams that weren’t coming true. The dress was white, but there would be no church bells, no father walking her down the aisle, no organ music, and apparently no groom on her wedding day.

Her phone beeped. Her heart sped up as she snatched it from her lap.

We need 2 talk.

Her stomach dropped.

Where are you? Her fingers moved quickly over the screen, so much so that she had to retype the question three times before getting it right.

Come 2 McD’s next door. Got us sum burgers n fries.

Erin’s mouth hung open.

How romantic, Brian.

Babe just come.

Tears prickled, but Erin blinked them away. She stood, grabbed her purse, and went to the window where the receptionist sat. The middle-aged woman was on the phone and gave Erin a “just a minute” sign by holding up her index finger.

“Tell Judge Valentino there won’t be a wedding today.” Erin’s voice broke by the end of the sentence. The judge might as well be sentencing me to a life of unhappiness.

Blog Tour: The Code

The Secret Code Hidden In the English Language

Non-Fiction, Historical Biography

Date Published: October 2024

The Code is a fascinating exploration of history, linguistics, numerology and philosophy that endeavors to explain the discovery of a secret code that is hidden in the English language. After conducting extensive research and hiring a statistician to independently test all of his work, the Codebreaker came to the conclusion that the Code is not accidental, but intentional and irrefutable. The existence of the Code is nothing short of life-changing and the implications are monumental.

The Code tells the story of the discovery of the Code and presents overwhelming evidence showing that there is a force at work – a force that many call God. The ongoing narrative of the discovery is supplemented with tables that demonstrate how particular historical events are related to central historical figures. The book also contains brief histories of the events and brief biographies of the people to give the reader some historical background. Pictures highlight each section, bringing the discovery of the Code to life. There are also statistics for significance, for the probability of the results occurring randomly, and for tests of four claims regarding the incredible propositions that the Codebreaker makes.

Literary / Historical Fiction

Date Published: 09-25-2202

Publisher: Woodpecker Lane Press

In this vividly-rendered novel, Melanie Dugan reimagines the life of Alice Neel, a groundbreaking American painter who revolutionized the art of the portrait in the twentieth century. Born in 1900 into a straitlaced middle-class family, Neel charted her own unconventional path. Her lifetime spanned World War I, the 1918 flu pandemic, women winning the right to vote, the Great Depression, World War II, the McCarthy Era, the Civil Rights Era, and second-wave feminism. She worked for decades in obscurity, wrestling with depression, poverty, and misogyny, loving the wrong men, fighting to live life on her own terms, and above all to paint.

About the Author

Melanie Dugan is the author of Bee Summers (“a carefully wrought portrayal of the way we carry trauma with us through life.” Brenda Schmidt, Quill & Quire), Dead Beautiful (“the writing is gorgeous,” A Soul Unsung), Revising Romance (“heartwarming, amusing and…downright sexy,” Midwest Book Review), and Sometime Daughter (“Stunning debut,” Kingston Whig-Standard). Her short stories have been shortlisted for several awards, including the CBC Literary award. She lives in Kingston, Ontario, Canada.
